Hi,
We are in process of modifying a few 250-350BHP burners to fire #2oil in lieu of #6 fuel oil. The burners are old (30-40years) rotary cup, but functioning without trouble and from a reliable manufacturer who provides a conversion kit for such switch. The boilers in general are building heating low pressure steam, steel shell firebox type.
My question is - has anyone worked/operated such converted burners/boilers. If so for how long and has there been any operational issues, such as flame-throw/control, ignition issues or any such trouble. With all assurances, parts warranty from manufacturer, other than obvious maintenance, the procedure should not affect plant operation in general. The procedure is not new. Normally #2 is easier to work with than #6. Any information is appreciated.

Thanks
