    Parallelled Liquid Liquid Line Drier

    I rebuilt the TXV in Addison water cooled RTU today. The bi-flow liquid line driers were installed in parallell to the main liquid line from the factory. I cut the section out and expected to find a check valve in the main line. Nope, nothing there just normal piece of 5/8 copper. Does anyone know why it would be piped liked this?

    Have seen two parallel driers equalling the right cubic inch single drier for the capacity of the system.

    But this system has a pipe that goes right on past the driers?

    Is this a heat pump?

    Its a WSHP. The drier is an 085S bi-flow the 5/8" copper that runs parallel with the drier is a straight shot through.

    Strange. So much for its use as a particulate filter!

    With wshp's if there is only one metering device , there is no true liquid line for the drier.

    If there is two metering devices with checks and bypasses , then you have a true full time liquid line.

    You know , you don't want the liquid drier in a line that could become a gas / liquid mixture between the metering device and the feeder tubes. Probably too much pressure drop would effect evaporator performance.
