    Hmm Water cooled walk in

I have a walk in cooler/freezer with three condenser units all cooled by city water that flows constantly around the compressors and condensers. Problem is the water exiting the system is still very cold. I fear there is a great waste of water for no reason. There is no regulator for the cold water cooling. Would like your view of what to do. Thanks

    Install air cooled condensers.

Probably watercooled semi hermetics with the loop running around the body

That's what came to mind but didn't they do that only on small K body's ?

I think I've only seen it on K bodies. OP didn't say how big the units were.

I doubt there is no water regulating vlaves, unless someone screwed up. It's not about EWT, it's about head pressure.

    Walk in cooler

Yes, they are semi herms, with the cooling lines looped around each compressor...it seems like quite a waste of water... suggestions?

You need to install a pressure actuated water regulating valve on each unit and set them to maintain a pressure corresponding to 105°F SCT.

Here's some info on the valves: 125687.PDF

It should have a water regulater on the outlet side. My first question is whether or not the units are keeping temp? Most water cooled units that I have worked on are set to maintain 105 degree discharge temp from the condensor. I could tell you funny stories about how that works in the Persian Gulf or off the coast of Cuba, but the system should have a regulator on the discharge side of the condensors. If the water leaves before collecting the heat, it is defeating the purpose.
