First Ice-O-Matic experience today.
Worked on my first Ice-O-Matic today and in a nutshell "seriously?" Compared to a Manitowoc or a Hoshizaki those are some pretty dumb machines. It was frozen up pretty bad. I called the senior tech to ask how harvest was triggered and a quick run down of the controls. I got the ice off and put my gauges on. Surprising the charge was good but the coating on the evap was done and was coming off everywhere. I purged the sump like 10 times but it kept pulling more and more of the evap coating off.
It made ice, but would not drop. I remember being told about the pushrod. Well, the whole pushrod assembly had fallen off, the bolts rusted through. I really didn't care for that coating always coming off and that **** was going to be in peoples drinks. I called my boss and told him the machine needed to be replaced and didn't feel comfortable fixing something that could endanger people so I didn't fix it.

http://millikenchemical.com/pages/pr...n/default.aspx used in Manitowoc and Scotsman sells their machines with AgIon in them, labeled as AquaArmor
Hoshizaki adverties their use of H-guard plus, but I cannot find any references as to what it is outside of it being advertised in their productsLast edited by danbb; 07-10-2012 at 12:21 AM. Reason: Add hoshi to the mix
