I would look here for your problem.

Model M1A 12' long about 48' total
5hp compressor running 409a gas
I have a problem that none of the local repair tech are able to figure out. Even called in tech that KysorWarren recommended and still nothing.
Problem are 2 front -
Can not get the product temp below 40 degrees.
Evaporator is freezing up within 2 days of getting all the ice off it.
This unit has been in this building almost 25 years.
there are 6 - 25 min defrost cycle put in by the last tech. who also adjusted the superheat at each section of the open single deck meat case. he also checked the humidity in the store and it was around 45. there are no ducts blowing air on the case. the store temp does go above 75 to maybe 78.
the thermosatat is hooked up to a solenoid that is on the return line and that's all the controls the configuration.
the liquid line is cold and has a little frost right below the case i am not sure what else to do. Have been spending a lot of money and have no results.
I have to get the product below 40. and get the ice off the coils.
anyone able to repair this i am at zipcode 31021

The case did work correctly at one time yes ?
R409 would run at about 22 psig. Do you know what that suction pressure was ?
Did he check all 4 TXV's ? What did he set them at ?
Does the system have a sight glass ?
Yes it worked great 3 years i been here. I am not sure the suction pressure, i just checked the slight glass and its clear. He did seem to adjust 3 of the 4 TXV's. To be honest 3 different repair man have adjusted it so i am not sure what they at currently. but i read it should be 6-8 super heat.
What temperature are you running the cases ? Is the solenoid on the big or small line ?
solenoid is on the small line. currently the thermostat is what controls the solenoid because i could hear the solenoid energize when i adjust the thermostat.
thermostat is set to 25. but the case temp are as follow 34 , 20 , 34, and 38
that is the reading i get on the built in thermometer - but the product temp is a whole different story.
All the fans are working and in the correct direction.
The case that is currently showing 20* is where the thermostat is hooked up to. And I am thinking to get the other cases to the correct temp maybe that's why?
That temperature controls needs to be at no lower then 34*
What is the defrost setup ? Does the system pump down and the compressor shut off in defrost mode ?
Do you know the model # so I can look up the correct installation method ?
If the solenoid does not close during defrost, refrigerant might bleed through the TXV.
model # for the solenoid?
No for the Kysor case. Does the solenoid valve not close during defrost ?
Should have 3 defrosts for for 45 minutes if they have reversing fans in them....
Are the fans reversing in defrost?
If electric defrost 3 for 30 min.
That case that has 20 degree temp needs to be adjusted by your tech... Or the other 3 need to be.. Superheat should be all the same on them.. Or discharge air should be close to the same.
Ksyor case M1A12U is the case number. I don't think the solenoid closes during deforst because nothing else is connected to it. I would think it would stay open because the case temp is higher and the thermostat is calling for the solenoid to open.
Dchappa21 - i called the company and they said the fans should reverse but my case do not have that relay that make them go in the other direction.
Discharge air should be set for 22-26 degrees on those cases.. So if the t-stat is in the discharge air it is really close....
Guess that is for the m1a3 it's the 3000 series... Not sure how much different it is.
