hello all,i had a defibrillator implant on mon.im gonna be out of work for 3wks,and the dr doesnt want me doing the kind of work i do when i go back.im not up to looking for another job at 54yrs old,and my co.has very little openings elseware.im stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Didn't you work for Coke?
They can't find you something to do less stressful?

If its real bad you may be eligible for disability, your doctor will have to agree for you to get it though.

Your heart is telling you to slow down. Your interest on your profile says "family". Please take care of yourself for your family. Don't feel like you can't find another job, you can. You aren't that old, but have years of experience. That's a real plus. Maybe dispatch or sales would be a possibility? Maybe working in a supply house? I know you won't get paid as much, but it's work, and you'll still be around for your family. Follow your doctors orders. I'm sure you will find a job that will work for you.

yea dice i still work for coke,i applied for a job as a planner within the co,but the salary isnt the same as im making now,ive got a call into a friend of mind that runs the dispatching dept.we'll see what happens with that,its just so damn depressing,going through this crap,ive had one ****ty year.i know there are some folks out there in worst shape that im in,i just needed to vent.dont want to take it out on mrs len,shes been a rock through all this.

You may not get the job you want and you may not get the pay you want but you will get to keep the most important things, YOUR LIFE AND FAMILY. Take it easy and just go with the flow. If you stay with coke and the pay isn't as good, well then figure where you can cut back. If nothing else, do like my step dad did @68 years of age, take on a job as a security guard in a country club. He gets paid decent, good benifits and sits in an air conditioned office all day.
