    Confused

What are blower contactors, and what do they do? How does one become "pitted" and how does that affect operations?

Contactors are electrical relays. they become pitted during normal start and stop action. They are normal wear items in any unit. If the become pitted badly, they run the risk of "welding" themselves closed. If that happens, your equipment will not shut off when supposed to. And worse, if one leg welds on a 3 phase motor, you risk losing the motor.

a contactor can cause a voltage drop if too pitted, which will cause the motors to overamp a cause premature damage.
