Any thing we have or have gained as a world power is at the expense of some unfortunate group of people hundreds of years ago.

In their eyes the United States is a predator nation who's only reason for growth and dominance is because of theft, enslaving entire subcultures and torture.

And don't think for one minute our President doesn't share their sentiment.
