I'm hoping that was a home made deal and not a fix by the installer! Does it drain into a 5 gallon bucket too : )?

Aint nothing like some good old fashioned custom fabrication. I REALLY. Really. Hope an installer didn't do that.

So what catches the water when that "shield" starts to sweat? I must be overthinking things---out in the heat too long!

I did something similar with a slant coil pan the property management company I worked for was too cheap to buy me a new coil and gave me a used one that slanted the opposite way...And stuck out of the unit by 4 inches...Mounted an extra pan underneath (from a new unit I saved it from that didn't go horizontal) and ran them both to condensate pump. I hate working for cheapskate property management companies that but used equipment. I am making money, but the 1099 at the end of the year is gonna sting.

Why not just insulate the damn duct? I would have been less work.
