    compression ratio?

i keep hearing about compression ratios. never really heard about this before guess i wasnt paying attention when this was discussed. ok, so my question is what is the ideal compression ratio that we are looking for or would it vary with conditions? and to figure it out let me know if i understand this right, low side 150/high side 300. would that give me a 2:1 ratio?

You need to convert from psig to psia first.

Compression ratio = discharge psia divided by suction psia.

So in your example it would be 315 / 165 = 1.9 to 1 if you are at sea level.
