Did you wait for the switch to close before you checked the amp draw? Do you know what F70-30 means?
This is a Traulsen freezer. What should the defrost termination switch be.
I currently have a F70-30F which is what the vendor sent me for the units Model and serial. But the switch has 120V to it and the defrost element ohms out good at 13. this is a new switch, second one from two company's and I got the same switch. Problem is elements don't draw amps and defrost the coil with the switch in place. But direct it does. Any suggestions pls.

I put it in manual defrost when the evaporator was a block of ice. It should have been closed.. (Correct??) I believe F70-30F means that their is a 40 degree diff on open and close. Since this is a freezer I would presume it closes on 30F and opens on 70F.. I'm thinking that it is the opposite.... Thoughts??
Deice the coil manually and let the box get to temp. Then test the switch.

What do you mean when you say the switch has 120v to it? Does it show 120v when you check across the switch? And is the switch your talking about a high limit that just turns off the heater or is there a defrost termination? What feeds power to the switch?
