i am coming to jekyll island next week. coming for http://www.JekyllFest.com of course i am coming without room reservations (last minute trip). we probably will stay right off of the island. are there any motels we need to stay away from. all we really need is a place to sleep we will be partying when we are awake.

This would be my first choice. It is on Jekyll. Might be pricey but you would never regret staying there. It is like staying in a living history book. I would see if they have a room. http://www.jekyllclub.com/ The Federal Reserve bank was started in a room there.

They also control Crane Cottage next door. There are a lot of your typical Patel type places here also. There are also nice places on St Simons Island. In Brunswick out by I-95 there are the Fairfield Inns, Microtel and the others.

Then there is Sea Island. http://www.seaisland.com/ You would want to stay there. As long as someone else was paying.

If you saw two towers out in the water behind the golfers on the real estate page. Good fishing there. We use to get drunk and climb them. They are much taller than they look.

    Cool

    Yup.
Helps me understand why Americans think our waterfront lots are such a bargain at 1.5 million.
Trust me, I know what I'm doing.

Here is a map to the festival. It is straight ahead when you get on Jekyll.

The SPUR 25 takes you right near my house. If you don't get a room on Jekyll, you may try St. Simons. It is a small trip but not a bad ride if you like rivers.
