Carrier Infinity 2006 Malfunction
After recent storm in Florida resulting in multiple electrical failures my system
went down - tech tried new blower, but wouldn't work with old user interface - now says I need a new blower, a user interface and control board - price around $.
I am 5 months out of 5 year warranty(of course) is it a good idea to replace all of this or consider new system? I hate to put too much into a system that might need more...how long do these new systems last? My mothers old a/c was 20 years old. Is it possible that this happened because of electrical fluctuations? I have whole house surge protection and have two annual inspections per year, I also change my filters regularly. Why did this happen????Last edited by beenthere; 06-28-2012 at 09:53 PM. Reason: price

This was an Infinity model 24ANA748A300 serial#2206E36226.
At 1/3 of the purchase price this seems like an expensive repair. I am concerned that if it was an electrical problem how to make sure it doesn't happen again, do I need to have a backup battery, because in our area we can lose power occasionally, sometimes in rapid succession, for no apparent reason.
