    Carrier Infinity 2006 Malfunction

After recent storm in Florida resulting in multiple electrical failures my system
went down - tech tried new blower, but wouldn't work with old user interface - now says I need a new blower, a user interface and control board - price around $.
I am 5 months out of 5 year warranty(of course) is it a good idea to replace all of this or consider new system? I hate to put too much into a system that might need more...how long do these new systems last? My mothers old a/c was 20 years old. Is it possible that this happened because of electrical fluctuations? I have whole house surge protection and have two annual inspections per year, I also change my filters regularly. Why did this happen????

Post the model # of your equipment inside and out.

How many times must one fix something before it is fixed?

This was an Infinity model 24ANA748A300 serial#2206E36226.
At 1/3 of the purchase price this seems like an expensive repair. I am concerned that if it was an electrical problem how to make sure it doesn't happen again, do I need to have a backup battery, because in our area we can lose power occasionally, sometimes in rapid succession, for no apparent reason.

I would get a second opinion before making a decision, I am guessing he is referencing the controller on the wall as the interface.

Short of all three being shorted from the storm there should be no need to replace all three items, each are easy to test.
