let's see. I started in 1964 in this trade. What's that 42 years?
I love my job. I just don't want to do it as often.
If you would asked me that 5 years ago I would of said no. Well here, no more sargent sledge to hit you over the head anymore. The slackers have been delt with. The boss can be Macho for about 15 seconds. Then, we can get on with our jobs. Roy

I have always enjoyed what I do for a living. It isn't perfect but niether am I. I am closing in on retiring and wouldn't mind doing a little less than I now do. When you are self-employed it is a seven day a week process and that does get a little stale after 35 years of it.At some point in the not too distant future I will just say no even more than I do now. If I say no often enough than eventaully people will quit calling and I'll be done. So for now I'll try to enjoy what remains.
Nowadays Im more of a desk jockey, from time to time I feel the urge to go back to servicing equipment but then while some of you were up in the roof cleaning condensers and changing belts I was reading some of the latest post in the HVAC-Talk website. The answer is yes I kind of like my job.
Love the industry. 40 years now, hung up the tools last
year, but am still closely connected to the industry. Don't
know anything else, but probably wouldn't do it if I did.
In general, yes, I like this trade, and for the most part I even like the guys I work for too.
But, on them days when they send me on a roof and it's 110 or -10 out.. no I hate my job and I hate the guys I work for too lol.
"If you call that hard work, a koalas life would look heroic."
Yeah, I guess so.

Love it.
Perhaps you should have read the instructions before calling.
love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've only been in this trade for two years now, but I do like it.
Thre are times when I miss my old job which I had for 25 years in a climate controlled shop machining, fabricating, and doing all sorts of cool stuff... plus, six weeks vacation... sigh.
I was thinking about that today while I was working in a hot attic completely drenched, when a drop of sweat landed on my droplight, and it blew up leaving me in the dark.
Yea....15 years and I still like it.
The work aint so great, but I like collecting the money.
Not here for a long time, just a good time

Anybody who hates hvac wouldn't be on this site. I like my job so much I can't leave it even though I should to get ahead.
If everything was always done "by the book"....the book would never change.
37 yrs at it and can't think of anything legal i would really rather do.
For the most part I like my job but it there are days, like today, that can just get to you. I find days like this it is just easier to pop a couple of my little green pills (Dr, prescibed) and just go on. Though I am ready for vacation or atleast a day off. I have been on call and working everyday for 27 days straight. 5 more days and I don't give a crap if there is no one else, I'm taking a couple off.
15 years in business for myself.
I hate paperwork
I Hate accountants
I HAte lawyers
I HATe telemarketers
I HATE government
But, I love the HAVCR work
Is this a Fabreze moment? C.Y.D. I'm voting white elephant. 2’.
I like the technical aspect of it. The things I really cant stand is all the driving I have to do and patching on old hacked up junk because the customer doesnt want to spend the money to fix it right.

13 years in the trade, and I love it. Much better than the office job I used to have. I decided to quit my job though, and spend the summer remodeling the house (New Kitchen, New Plumbing, New Electrical, New Bathrooms, and new windows, all by myself. Maybe I should go with a GC licence?) and climbing some high mountains. but when I am done with that sillyness, I will get another HVAC job... Probably just in time for the heating season...
It's a good trade. I don't know anything else though. I hate the cooking equipment we do sometimes. Fryers are from the DEVIL! HVAC/R is great though. A whole lot better than an auto mechanic. Yuck!
I will enter His gates with thanksgiving in my heart.
