The one on the left is a Lennox g8. Definatly not a downflow, and the heat exchanger is cracked guaranteed.
The other 2 are just boat anchors...

for some strange reason there are a lot of people out there that have this idea in their heads that HVAC systems have been granted immortality by the gods. i don't get it

Ya mean there aint a hvac god ,darn ,.I gotta come up with a new sales pitch now. We got a guy on our charleston craigs list that has some decent looking units that i would possibly consider taking a look at . He cleans them and tests them . they look ok . plus he dosent want but a couple of hundred for em .

I was considering putting an older furnace into the garage to keep the temps in the 5-8degC (probably 45F ballpark) range and get a few bucks for motorcycle storage (plenty of room to put a few at a couple of hundreds a season) but it would have been more along the lines of me putting in something that my buddies pulled out on a re&re job. More trouble than it's worth as I would have had to re-run some pipe that's already behind finished walls, so unless the property is getting a total teardown (unlikely any time soon), it ain't happening.

One guy actually got an almost new space heater from a gov facility that was redoing their entire hvac setup (probably sold it for a G or so and whoever got it, got a good deal).
