    Tesla Flashback - 2006

The Secret Tesla Motors Master Plan (just between you and me)
Elon Musk, Co-Founder & CEO of Tesla Motors August 2, 2006

Background: My day job is running a space transportation company called SpaceX, but on the side I am the chairman of Tesla Motors and help formulate the business and product strategy with Martin and the rest of the team. I have also been Tesla Motor's primary funding source from when the company was just three people and a business plan.

As you know, the initial product of Tesla Motors is a high performance electric sports car called the Tesla Roadster. However, some readers may not be aware of the fact that our long term plan is to build a wide range of models, including affordably priced family cars. This is because the overarching purpose of Tesla Motors (and the reason I am funding the company) is to help expedite the move from a mine-and-burn hydrocarbon economy towards a solar electric economy, which I believe to be the primary, but not exclusive, sustainable solution.

Critical to making that happen is an electric car without compromises, which is why the Tesla Roadster is designed to beat a gasoline sports car like a Porsche or Ferrari in a head to head showdown. Then, over and above that fact, it has twice the energy efficiency of a Prius. Even so, some may question whether this actually does any good for the world. Are we really in need of another high performance sports car? Will it actually make a difference to global carbon emissions?

Well, the answers are no and not much. However, that misses the point, unless you understand the secret master plan alluded to above. Almost any new technology initially has high unit cost....

Elon Musk’s mystery Tesla buyout funder is Saudi Arabia (arstechnica.com)
    https://arstechnica.com/cars/2018/08...buy-out-tesla/

Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund is the mystery funder that has offered to finance a deal to take Tesla private, Elon Musk wrote in a Monday morning blog post. The post lays to rest a mystery that has bedeviled Wall Street and the news media since Musk tweeted last Tuesday that he had "funding secured" for a buyout.

"Going back almost two years, the Saudi Arabian sovereign wealth fund has approached me multiple times about taking Tesla private," Musk wrote in his Monday post. "They first met with me at the beginning of 2017 to express this interest because of the important need to diversify away from oil."

that's Mohammad bin Salman or MBS .. heir to Saudi throne who recently purged royal family and effectively seized control with the blessings of Trump. so far MBS's interest aligns with America's and have started taking on heavy lifting of middle east affairs.

it's worth noting that MBS has taken out the most radical elements of royal Saudi family by holding hostage entire families then exchanging their freedom for assets. we want this guy in charge instead of some radical jahadist. so far he's demonstrated leadership that aligns their interests with America's.

Tesla's stock ownership is separate from space exploration company interests which are already private if I've got my info correct. once they are both private, then all bets are off. but Trump would not allow our national interest to be compromised. America First!

it apears short sellers of Tesla stock are headed for a rude awakening ..

here's a decent read but don't believe everything in article

Tesla Model 3 Performance wins over longtime BMW enthusiast: ‘this is an iPhone moment’
    .
Indie app developer Moshen Chan has been an avid BMW enthusiast for ~20 years. Having a passion for high-speed driving, he has spent a lot of time experiencing the legacy automaker’s Ultimate Driving Machines firsthand. Moshen now drives a Tesla Model 3 Performance, after a test drive with the electric sedan proved that it was a powerful, feature-ridden, and compelling vehicle that could very well be beyond anything that the German veteran automaker currently has to offer.

The indie app developer shared his experience in a series of lengthy posts on a BMW forum, Bimmerfest.com. Chan notes that over the years, he has driven several BMWs, and today, he owns a modified E36 325i with track suspension setup, as well as an E82 135i with Performance Suspension and several other M3 suspension part upgrades. Being in the market for a new vehicle, he was looking at the BMW M2 Competition, the latest iteration of the BMW M3, and lastly, the Tesla Model 3 Performance.

The test drive with the Model 3 Performance proved to be the difference-maker. The BMW enthusiast stated that he was simply blown away by the vehicle, from its hyper-low center of gravity, its low polar moment of inertia, to its silent, instant, brutal acceleration. Chan stated that Tesla ultimately “threw a curve-ball to everything (he) knew about sport sedans & performance cars” and that overall, the Model 3 Performance “absolutely outperforms anything BMW has to offer today.” The app developer further noted that his test drive with the Model 3 Performance was an “iPhone moment.”

“I can say I was very hesitant on the ultra minimalist interior but now I absolutely love it. For me this is an iPhone moment – when a new product suddenly makes everything else seem outdated and old,” Chan wrote.

His public problems are based on two character traits many others don't have:

    1. He's a genius, of sorts, and he assumes everyone understands what he means. Geniuses often fail to realize that less intelligent people don't always really understand them; they just glom on and go along for the ride.

    2. He speaks his mind without filtering his thoughts. When ideas pop into his mind, he just blurts them out without considering the consequences.

As a result, he sometimes looks stupid in the eyes of people with normal intelligence.

Pres. Trump seems to have the same traits. the news said he has to vacate the COB position and pay a $20 million dollar fine. So Tesla will continue for now?

Its nothing but a life size RC car , with no moving parts except 4 wheels and a electric motor , VS the gasoline car with 5000 moving parts and tons of technology in extremely complicated transmissions and engines ....yet they price it the same ? Cmon man .... Bring the price down and I might consider it
