    Jules,

Although everyone will tell you IE is junk, get FireFox,
and mine is working fine,..........The problem lies with
the server. The top banner contains html to refresh the
flash image each time it loads. Below are two links to the
images the computer tries to access and load with each
    visit.

    http://a248.e.akamai.net/7/800/14845.../ads/Creatives

    http://a248.e.akamai.net/7/800/14845.../ads/Creatives

Sometimes if you hit refresh on your browser it will force
the image to load. I just purchased a new computer, geek
squad clean and start, all new software etc. My browser
does the same thing you are experiencing. It also does the
same thing at all three work computers at the office.

The problem needs to be addressed, in order to ensure all
visiting H-Talk have a pleasant experience while browsing
the forum. Not everyone wanting to come here is as smart
as the guys who are not having any problems, and may not
wish to download a new browser. There is nothing wrong with
IE. Some people prefer one brand over another.

If a browser restricts new members from signing up, or
existing members from posting, this is not a good thing.

    Later.............GF

Everything you stated in your post is accurate.

I quote the most important items:

1.) Members that don't know how to get around the site's technical problems.

2.) Members that can't sign up properly.

I'm one of those members that dont want to download yet another Internet browser... the technical team needs to correct the problems that create issues with IE (likely the most popular browser used by the general public).

DING DING DING We have a winner! GF is correct as much as people out here will say do this do that get rid of IE blah blah blah, the vast majority out there will keep using IE and just move on to another site for their knowledge. They don't have time or the inclination to mess around

Think like cars, a few of us trick out cars change em modify em crank em up tinker with them etc. The over whelming majority of the public just drive the cars thats it they buy em and drive em might add some floor mats but they just gas em and go.

If penton media ignores this then they must not be as smart as they think they are when it comes to serving their customers. It will be their downfall in the end. No one has patience for web sites that don't load or are slow to load we just move on to the next

You would think someone like The Editor would reply to this
thread with, we're working on it, or get over it.

I'm sorry to say that this time I agree. The powers to be, not the Mods or Assoc., should be addressing this problem.

I've been a member since '03 and always recieved notification to my primary e-mail address. No I have to go to another account to get my notifications? That's bull, why should I have to go through hoops for the servers problems? I shouldn't and neither should anyone else. I stick to this site because I am loyal and do enjoy the company of most other members but it is a pain in the arse when you have to jump hoops to be on this site.

The Editor, Jay, please address this problem or atleast address us and let us know what you and your company intends to do or not to do. Is the following not your opening statement on your main website:
Welcome to the Web home of Penton Media. We're driven by a passion for creating the most respected, value-rich publications, trade shows and conferences, and online media available anywhere. Everything we do centers on building community in the markets that we serve. You need to remove that last line to make it more accurate.

    Swampy

I agree it is long past time that our site should be 100%. Starting crap about it will not help anything but give the troublemakers something to do.

I don't like what is going on any less than you or the other guys. I did have a talk with "the editor" Mike. I gave him a list of the priorities and emphasized their importance.

Although there is nothing I can do except take it to them, they need to respond with only fixes. Dealing with the largest corporation that has owned this site and other large corporations that I have personally worked for reminded me of one thing. It takes time to remove an IT group from one job in progress and pull them to another.

I am not making excuses, re-read above. In my opinion they have had plenty of time to exercise our site of the demons. Calling for you guys to have more patience is mute. I feel the same way. It is time all things were fixed and running smoothly.

In protest, email Mike using the "contact us" link below and share your feelings directly to him. Give him beneficial feedback and act civil. He too is frustrated.

    thx

    ~L~
