See if you can spot the problem...
Customer: "It gets hot whenever we turn on the A/C."

Me: No ****.

Well, there is a whole laundry list of problems, but "the" problem appears to be that the high speed of the blower motor is in series with a heat strip...
A "What is not wrong with this heater?" list would be be shorter than the problem list.If more government is the answer, then it's a really stupid question.

The problem is obviously the little blue wire nut sitting on the bottom shelf. What were they thinking?
The picture in my avatar is of the Houston Ship Channel and was taken from my backyard. I like to sit outside and slap mosquitos while watching countless supertankers, barges and cargo ships of every shape and size carry all sorts of deadly toxins to and fro. It's really beautiful at times.....just don't eat the three eyed fish....

Things you can't see in this picture: a burned up ACE bandage stuffed behind the squirrel cage, W and Y jumped together with what appeared to be part of a paper clip, and half a Spiderman toy standing sentinel just in front of the drain pan.
Found out today that the previous tenant was the apartment complex's "A/C guy," so either the "A/C" part of that's a total lie, or he intentionally booby-trapped his air handler when he got fired.

W and Y being jumped together would be a good reason!
How are we supposed to spot the problem when we cant see everything?

Um, it was a rhetorical question?

That's one where I would just rip all the wires and controls out and completely redo it all. Neatly.

That's what I would have done, but the resident wouldn't hear of it. She complained to the land lady and got herself a new air handler.

Straight up, when hacks fluck it up like that, start over, it's easier to start over than to try to fix it.

I am going to throw all my jumper wires away and just carry some paper clips around now.
