    Oil change question

    I am replacing a Copeland 1hp hermetic compressor in a cascade refrigeration system. I dumped the old oil out to see how much is needed for the new compressor and there was only about 7 fl. oz. in the old compressor. I realize that there is some oil left in the refrigerant lines but 7 oz. is not much to be in the compressor. How much should I recharge back into the new compressor?

    We need the compressor model number to determine the oil charge.

    Doesn't a new compressor come with an oil charge?

    I don't think you'll need to add any.
