Trying to figure out how many returns would generally be needed on a one story, 2300 dq ft house....also wondering off main ducts, is the a general rule as to how many "spider" ducts you can or should run off main supply ducts....i have a 5 ton a/c thats cycling alot and any help you guys could supply to cut my 600.00 a/c bill would be appreciated

A good layout is one return per room, excluding bathrooms and kitchens. Ducts sized based on load per room. 2000 cfm in 5 ton system.

Have a pro come out and service your system for starters.

How was a 5 ton system determined as the need for your home? Sounds oversized to me.
