    What you all do not realize is the installer was trying to make this unit into a water source unit, that pipe in the position was only to allow the excess water to drain out when it reached that level in the unit.

    Just think...the condensate pump will not have to work as hard thus saving owner the cost of replacing it later, the water will "naturally" drain out of the unit into crawlspace and recycle water into water table under the house...very enviro-friendly and energy efficient!
