Its got nothing to do with efficiency.

The mandate to switch to 410A. was predicated on BS from the government.

So I guess the people saying 410a is more effecient and can justify a unit the size of a bunk house have never seen a high SEER r 22 unit ?

The 410 unit RLA was higher than the R22 unit for the same SEER
RLA is just the max that the compressor will draw before the protection trips with an adjustment factor applied. Higher rla doesn't always equate with higher running amps. See http://www.achrnews.com/articles/det...perage-ratings
General public's attitude towards our energy predicament: "I reject the reality of finite resource depletion and substitute it with my own; energy is infinite, we just need an alternative storage medium to run the cars on. The economy can grow indefinitely - we just need to "green" everything! Technology is energy! Peak what?"

You guys couldn't find a "direct replacement"? I know some York units try to maintain the same curb configurations. Guess that is not the case here.
