This is an odd question. Is there any way to turn off the back lit night light on the TCONT800 programmable confort control thermostat? We like it dark at night. It is wonderful but bright. For now it gets a hand towel taped to the wall over it at night. I should post a picture. It is funny.

The new XL14i with variable fan is wonderful. We get a nice even temperature throughout the house. We got it installed just when the heat started. The Doctor of Heat Pumps was not the cheapest or most expensive but had the most practical experience.

Advanced setup option 280, set to 0. It's in the installer manual.

Is there a trick to find setting 280? It jumps to 320 from 160. Mine is the basic XL800 for single stage. Green drape with fringe and a remote opener.

The settinga I have with an extra 0 in front are:

    120
    130
    140
    150
    160
    320
    330
    380
    500
    510
    540
    640
    and 670

you have the older 800 series, i had the installer setup, can't find it now but will look. you can always disconnect the common wire at the tstat. but you've gotta watch your batteries.
