Thread: Name it...

I cut a piece of acrylic and placed bubble foil insulation on the bottom and taped it with high quality aluminum tape on the bottom side. My notebook sits on top of the acrylic.

    LAPTOP (removable)
    ACRYLIC (cut to notebook footprint)
    BUBBLE FOIL
    ALUMINUM TAPE

    What is is it?

I would say it's a LABA mount or cushon. How does the air get through so the fan can cool off the cpu?

He'd answer, but his cpu overheated and quit.

    Talking

Good guesses. When someone asks, I reply a gonad protector first. When they walk away, I tell them it's a notebook to laptop converter and they still look at me funny.

My Compaq Presario Notebook has the intake at the bottom and the exhaust out the rear. If you put it on your lap, rug or chest (when lying down) it overheats big time because you block the intake vent.

The acrylic bottom which the notebook sits on, allows the notebook to bring in air just like it would on a table.

The bubble wrap adds some cusion when placed on your chest.

The foil insulation tempers the heat somewhat when sitting on your lap (gonad protector).

It's lightweight, custom sized and cheap.
