I am 58 years old and my whole life I have heard that any day now the big one is going to strike. And I believe it, sometime in the next 10,000,000 yeaars there may be a earthquake biger that anyone yet recorded. If it does not happen in the next 50 years I just may miss it.

I live in Los Angeles, and I've never known anyone worried about this. We're more concerned about tax increases, energy bills, and that nut driving in the next lane.

    ______
cracks and faults that formed along the East African rift in Afar, Ethiopia,
following a series of earthquakes. These cracks formed above the zone where molten rock rose
into the plate, reaching to within approximately 1.2 miles of the surface.

Same here been hearing about big one since I can remember. When we had the Northridge Earthquake a few years back. The media made it look like L.A. was destroyed. Its almost like worring about the sky falling. I hope it dont happen but if it does we will have to live with it.
