need to replace a 3 ton carrier split system. air handler is in attic with a 20 inch access opening. does anyone know a manufacturer who makes an air handler less than 20x20? doesn't matter how tall it is...thanks!

Time to make a bigger access...
If more government is the answer, then it's a really stupid question.

Ditto larger access. Your not going to change the AC handler often but sizing the handler on access hole is not a good idea.

Good question!!! I think I know where you are going on this one. If the return is bigger then the attic access take it up there that way. I have done this Many times. Also do you have room to cut in a bigger return air grill? If so you can take it up that way if the current return is to small to do so. Also alot easier to fix by adding a bigger return.
