LONDON - Syd Barrett, the troubled Pink Floyd co-founder who spent his last years in reclusive anonymity, has died, the band said Tuesday. He was 60.
A spokeswoman for the band said Barrett died several days ago, but she did not disclose the cause of death. Barrett had suffered from diabetes for years.
The surviving members of Pink Floyd — David Gilmour, Nick Mason, Roger Waters and Richard Wright — said they were “very upset and sad to learn of Syd Barrett’s death.”

It's sad to see the rock legends die off but I guess we better get used to it. I think that Roger Waters will be a greater loss anyway.
I am the "Wally". All others are meer imitations of the original.

Stop it 'pope...you know you were looking for Liberace news when you happened upon a great band like Pink Floyd. Don't worry...Clay Adkins will be around for you for awhile....
Syd Barrett R.I.P.If everything was always done "by the book"....the book would never change.

Barrett left a long time ago. Mental illness takes the mind before the body.
Wish you were here....

Syd was only in the band for a couple of years. By 1968 he was gone in many ways. The band still saw to it that he was financially taken care of. Roger Waters is the heart and soul of the band. He wrote many songs in homage to Syd. My favorite line being. " And when the band your in starts playing different tunes, I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.
I got to go now, I need another hit.

Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom,
blown on the steel breeze.
Come on you target for faraway laughter,
come on you stranger, you legend, you martyr, and shine!
You reached for the secret too soon, you cried for the moon.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Threatened by shadows at night, and exposed in the light.
Shine on you crazy diamond.
Well you wore out your welcome with random precision,
rode on the steel breeze.
Come on you raver, you seer of visions,
come on you painter, you piper, you prisoner, and shine!
-----------------
The diamond shines no longer. Goodbye, Syd.
