New Systems cool as good?
Hi, thanks in advance for your help.
I just had a 22 year old AC unit pulled out and replaced with a new Trane 16i system, with matched air handler and stat. I also have an 8 year old Lennox system as my 2nd unit.
The question I have is the air blowing out of the registers of my 8 year old Lennox system is reading 59 degrees and the air blowing out of the brand new Trane system is reading 69 degrees, full 10 degrees warmer.
Both units are set at 76 degrees on the thermostat, outside temp today is about 100 degrees.
So the question is why? I don't know if the newer R410 refrigerant doesn't cool as well as the older refrigerent or if the new system isn't charged properly. I'm hesitant to sign the completion paperwork until I have a better sense of what is going on.
I was also thinking about replacing the 8 year old unit with a like Trane system, but I'm having 2nd thoughts if there is an issue.
Help!!

You need to call your contractor back, you have a problem. You may have a charge issue or the system is simply not set up correctly.

My guess and its only a guess is the pin switches are not set correctly. I would assume you have a TAM7 air handler and your unit is most likely operating at to high of blower speed.

So does that mean that the air handler is pushing the air out before it has had time to cool?

the air handler has to be made to match the wanted cfm of the condensing unit... yes hi cfm can cause a low t.d. .... anyway call them back... should be an easy fix....

Welllllll........ were not cooling it we are removing the heat from it, but basically yes. Your system should be set up to move between 350 to 450cfm per ton depending what part of the country you live in.
