Yup, got em all! (toes too!)
Had one close call removing a piece of wood from a table saw when someone turned it on (ahhhh, highschool days). Other than that, just a few new holes in the fingers and some cuts that make for interesting finger prints.
"If you call that hard work, a koalas life would look heroic."
Nope. A scissor lift fell on me while removing the hydraulics 11 yrs ago.. Some guys were standing around talking while I was working on it and knocked the prop out. Lost the two small fingers on the right hand and mashed the left hand so bad that I have plates and screws on all the bones in the center of the hand. The thimbe is practically useless. But I am still running a one man show after six months of therapy. So ya'll be careful.
"FIGHT CRIME: SHOOT BACK"
When I was younger (17/18) I was wrestling around with a buddy of mine. He had just gotten out of the Army Rangers and the guy was a real bad ass, well he started getting rough (playing) and jokingly I grabbed a knife. Wrong move on my part, he snapped, grabbed my arm and wrist and jammed the knife into a table. The blade and my right index finger battled it out and my finger lost. Only thing left was the bone above the middle knuckle. Surprisingly enough it hurt but not as bad as I thought it would. We grabbed the fingerand put it in a cooler and took the trip 50 miles to the nearest hospital. Luckily since we put everything on ice the were able to reattach it. Still don't have much feeling in it but it works just fine now.
I was making a chess table out of walnut and ash hardwoods. I have the sub-base done for the inlay. I was almost done with the rough cuts on the individual peieces. I had 12 pieces to go. And i cut my finger tip off. Its been almost a week. It doesn't hurt too often just when i bump it or try to bend the finger totally straight. I tried to mave some mail with it yesterday and it felt like 1000 v went rite up my arm. I've been trying not taking pain killers cause i don't wanna get addicted to them. I take 1 maybe 2 a day. Only Tylenol 3's but why become dependant on them. Still trying to get pictures for ya. Later All

I was cutting something in a shear and cut off the tip of my finger. Funny thing is as I was pressing down with my foot I saw my finger was in the way, but couldn't stop in time
I nipped the tip of my middle finger on the left hand on the table saw. Bled like a pig. They stiched it up pretty good and I didn't lose anything. That's the closest I came. Except when I was a baby they cut off part of my wee-wee.
I burnt the hell out of my left fingers last week. I figure 14 days to heal. Depending on how young you are.
BA, sorry to hear about your digit. They can always use one of your toes to frankify your hand.
Be careful Benny!!
Still have all of mine, but two close calls when I was a teenager. 1) Was scrapping copper from a transformer and PINCHED the skin of my pinky with a hammer blow. Took care of it myself. Scar is barely visable. 2) Kickback from a chain saw. Didn't see it coming. Now after having had to preform job hazard analysis for operations at work and having Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in place, safety training and Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) I'm always aware of hazards in any work I do.

Survived third degree burns and over 150 stitchworthy cuts on my hands. I have a scar on the back of my left hand between my thumb and pointer from smashing that spot with a mall while using a chisel on stone...but everything still works.
Twice I have been told I may have to have fingers amputated, but the surgeons always did a good job putting the nerves and tendons back together. The pinky and ring finger of my right hand are curled a bit when relaxed though.
Training is important!
Practical Training is a must!
My surgeon sucked. Cut both tendons in my little finger and only bends in one joint.
The docs that did my hands, several times, were great. I do get a really weird cramp that puts an indent in the side of my right hand once in a while and the hands and fingers get really stiff and achy at times, but overall, the docs did a great job.Originally posted by trane

Almost lost my pinky when a mirror fell on it. One of my friends stiched it back together for me. Got a pretty bad scar shoulda went to the hospital.
Craziest thing I ever saw was my sister got a blow dart in her eye. She is now blind in that eye, but she still has it.
