Short on return air?

Downflow in a garage. Return air in the crawl pinched off, furnace cycling on limit. This was the dealer's solution. That pleated filter on the left is taped over the blower compartment so 100% of the air is now coming from the garage.

So what's the deal with the return air grill on the duct, isn't it pulling from the same place?

Ahh i bet the garage isnt used for cars. Not pulling any return from the main living area

No point in just fixing the problem when you can show how smart you are........

The installer that saw this told the HO just how much CO was pouring in the house everytime they pulled in the garage. She said they shut the car off quickly

Did they also add the return/filter grill on the duct (right side) too!?

That reminds me of a trailer I worked on, the last company forgot to hook up the vent pipe so it was venting in the house.

I had a customer a couple of years ago with a old 80% Carrier where the vent pipe was rusted through. It was the middle of the winter and I advised him we would have an install crew come out and re-event the furnace but it would take a day or so. He looked at me and with a serious face asked me, "can I use it to knock the chill off". How do you respond to a question like that, REALLY?

I know, some people are dumb, just make sure you cover your own ass and shut it down and tell them it's unsafe, and document it. If they want to turn it on when you leave that's there property and you have no control over that.
