when checking the superheat at the compressor with a accumulator do you still check the superheat 6 inches from the compressor or do you have to be before the accumulator to get a proper reading

Here's my take
Temperature and pressure are directly related. Accumulators to not reduce pressure, just convert liquid to gas.
Take the reading 6" before the compressor.

When looking at compressor super heat We are looking at being in the area above flood back or known as 0 super heat and below maxium rated superheat of the compressor.Accumulators sized incorrectly will not prevent flood back, measure at the compressor.A lot of field installed accumulators are sized by line connections and not by the amount of refrigerate in the system.

Ja, you should get an award or something!!!
So many dont even ask that question, much less do they EVER measure superheat back @ the compressor!
They simply go by hi and lo side pressures to charge or diagnose systems.
pity.........

to ensure comp wont flood back check 6" by comp but to setup a txv check as close to sensng bulb as possible to get most accurate temp reading. txv does not care what superheat is at comp
