    I am researching other manufacturers' units to replace two Yazika model CH-V50 gas fired Double-Effect Absorbtion Chiller-Heaters. Thses two units lasted barely 9 years, one is defunct and the other is limping along.
    I would greatly appreciate any advice about suitable replacement models.

    http://www.Broadusa.com makes a 2 stage absorber in that size.

    what tonnage are these chillers you might want to go with a electric driven there alot more reliable if you dont have the staff to correctly service absorbers, or if theres no techs in your area that do.

    50 Ton? Broad does have sizes in that range. Are you looking for simutanious heating and domestic water?

    These two units are cubes about 6' on each side and weigh 5670 each. They are in a rooftop structure. Replacing them with a 100 ton unit presents problems regarding weight and access.
    Ideally, we would switch them out for two 50s that will both cool and heat the building - but this may not be possible, based on my research so far.Otherwise, if I can find two 50 ton gas powered chillers, and if there is enough room to intall a gas boiler separetely, that may be the best way to go.
    Having to get a larger electrical service for the building, run a new 400 Amp line to the roof, and absorb the greater energy costs for AC seems the least desirable option.
    Does anyone have feedback on the reliability of the new Yazaki 50 ton units?
    The existing ones (one of which is dead) may very well not have been properly maintained at all times over the last 9 years.

    What are you paying for gas and electricity? You could be better off getting rid of the absorbers.. Ken

    About 24k for gas, 73 for electricity - for a 40,000 sf structure in NYC.
    But, reconfiguring for electric is a big undertaking.

    Yaz have typically had a short life span 7-10 yrs. DF Absorbers Broad,Yorks are good.
