we've recently moved into a fixer-upper in northern va, and the hvac system is probably going to be the next big undertaking. it works, but is 17ish years old and we've had to have someone out two weeks ago (clogged pump) and last year (new coil) to get it up to speed. the repair guy seemed to think there's no reason to replace it until it actually dies, but we have some tax refund money that the wife wants to put to this, while i'd rather put some aside for now and try to get a better deal off-season, as it were. but if prices stay the same, then it makes sense not to wait.
my question is, since everyone seems so busy these days, does it make sense to wait until fall to tackle this? are hvac suppliers like car dealers in the fall, trying to get rid of this year's inventory to make room for next year's stuff?
