No offense , but our Helpers make more than that. It all depends in the market in which you work as well. If your confident in your work ask for more money.
I have been working for the same company for almost 4 years and I'm only making 11 a hour is that normal ? I make them so much money but I don't have enough guts to ask why I'm not getting more. Just seeing if that's normal pay

Yeah I'm the lead installer and I double check everything . Almost never have a call back and very proud of my end result at the jobs . If you don't mind me asking how much do your lead installers make
If your licensed and ticketed or even a fourth year apprentice that is really low! A first year in this area usually starts out at 18-20 $/hr. When I started out on the east coast as a first year the starting wage was 12 $/hr. Wages vary from place to place, but if your the lead installer you should make double what your apprentice makes!
I think it has to do with location the reason I asked is I'm thinking about moving to florida and I don't think I would make it on what I'm making now
Wow, that is really low, in my area that is an apprentice wage.
Jblack check with companies and have job lined up before moving to any area.Just be careful who you go with your reputation no matter how good can be affected by bad companies.Good luck to you
Lead installer should be in the 20s at least . . I.m.h.o ..... No offense but that's less than helper rate for no experience whatsoever around here. time to speak up or start looking
I know of an installer who brings a helper and charges $300 a day and that is considered a good price. Lately he has gone up in price to about $500 a day and is not getting as much work. I think this guy can install but could not competently diagnose or troubleshoot or service a system.
Lead installer of what? Determines what you can install. Rates vary all over the country. Maybe someone from your neck of the woods will chime in. 11 an hour is entry level here maybe good there. What is your background, education? As stated earlier, make sure you look into a company before you leap. Look for another job and lock it in before you go to your boss and discuss a raise that way you could tell him what your going to make if you leave and make sure he tops it not matches it.. What are your benefits like? How do you know how much money they make? Good luck.
You need to put the phone down and get back to work!
Berea Kentucky....... Id say your making about right.......low for a lead installer though.
You should ask for more money...... It never hurts to ask..... and maybe shop around and see if there are other companies in the area.......look into employment with one of them depending on what they will pay you.
I wouldnt suggest jumping ship as a way of getting better wages but there are some companies out there who are going to keep you as long as they can without paying you a decent wage.
Also... if you are planning on making a move to florida.......Id have a job lined up before I even thought about packing up. The economy we are in right now is not one for gambling on finding a job.
Yikes, I knew things were bad down there but not that bad.. That's how much a green apprentice would make working for a cheap shop here and Ontario's considered a "have-not" province (we've always been industrial and you know where the industry moved). Do you have your ticket or are you still apprenticing? Even as an apprentice, with 4 years under your belt, you should be making at least twice that.
Just a warning from my previous work experience.. Once I asked for a reasonable raise in a blood-from-stone kinda company. The following week they had me train my replacement. Fortunately none of the potential replacements they could get for what they were paying me were able to keep up with the workload, so I had plenty of time to line up a nice job, give them notice and split.
Our parts drivers make more than that.
If your employer thinks you're happy at 11 bucks, then why would he pay you more? Make a list of your skills and accomplishments. Present them to him explaining why you think you deserve more, Then, ask for a raise. Worst he can do is say no.
Officially, Down for the count
YOU HAVE TO GET OFF YOUR ASS TO GET ON YOUR FEET
I know enough to know, I don't know enough
Why is it that those who complain the most contribute the least?
MONEY CAN'T BUY HAPPINESS. POVERTY CAN'T BUY ANYTHING
I am still apprenticing but I do such clean good work I'm lead installer I plan to get my journeymens within the next months , on and I also fill in and pick up part and do smaller service work so I thought if I was doing every job off and on I should be getting more than that I mean I would be happy at 15 a hour
My local economy is as slow and poor as most anywhere and that seems low. $12hr is avg for entry level here (western ny) is entry level pay. Your exp would put you in the $17+ range here.
I read alot of posts on this site about wage and its all over the board but getting paid 11.00 for being a lead installer just sounds low, especially in this economy. I went to school with a buddy who is making 17.00 fresh out of trade college, hes the lead tech at a plant, another does apartment maintenance and is making 12.00, and another is making minimum wage and hes working for a residential outfit doing odd jobs changing motors here and there. So its all over the place in Fresno, CA as far as wage. Granted all the above mentioned (as well as me) are fresh out of HVAC trade school with little to no experience. If I am making 11.00 after 4 years in I am not sure I can satisfy the student loan let alone regular bills. Hope you find a place that pays better or your place bumps up your pay.
I would really put some effort into getting your journeyman's first, after that it would be time to talk raise.
P.S. side note, you cost more than 11 dollars per hour to the company, they pay taxes, insurance, benefits, holidays, vacation pay etc over and above your rate per hour, but with that said you sound like an employee that most employers would want, Good Luck .
