Not to highjack thread......and knock me on my butt (OP) if you think I am...but the greatest white dude to ever play the blues was Johnny Winter. Stevie Ray Vauhgn, a close second.

My all time favorite style is David Gilmour. However, I love classic guitar rock and blues guitar. So many great guitarists nobody has never heard of. I recently found one jewel that is taking the guitar internet by storm and no one can find out anything about her except she is a Parisian:
I think Steve Winwood's "Mr. Fantasy" played at Clapton's Crossroads is an all time classic performance.
I think Jimi Hendrix is overrated and his play was very sloppy but he was creative and balls to the wall as was SRV.
I like Tab Benoit's style, too.
To contrast my rock & roll appetite, I am totally infatuated with Diane Birch:Keep the fire inside the fireplace.

Never thought Eric Clapton was a great Blues guy, just a good guitarist; good technician, good at answering the question, not so good at asking the question. Gary More is good for sure, but always kinda copied others IMO.

An unassuming player Hank Marvin, not the typical.
You will know his sounds but maybe not the guy.
