Is there a way to test burner motors for dead spots besides just starting and stopping it a million times???

There is a way for oil burner motors to test this using resistance and slowly turning the motor. Dont know if it works for other types though ...sorry

95% of the time you think there is a dead spot there is.
Better question is why you think there is a dead spot.

an accurate ohm meter is my sugestion.
Last one I came across has something of an obstruction where the blower mounted into the housing.
New motor and it was failing shortly after start up. But it didnt do this for several weeks AFTER initial installation.
had nothing to do with bad windings ... it wasnt even bad bearings. Simply an external obstruction.
