Coil Replacement on Carrier 10 Ton
Thats not the worst of it. We quoted the job to replace the coil that was stolen and the building owner gave the job to a family member.
Guess he didn't have an account at Carrier.

Is that 2 5 Ton splits hooked up to that Evap coil in the RTU?
I wonder how much money he saved?

Or this way was cheaper lol. Carrier is disgustingly high priced for OEM stuff ... How's the system work? Lol

A conversion of a package unit into a split system. Hideously clever. It's not all bad, the service ports are easier to access and the controls are simplified. You don't need to replace the panel to check pressures. Won't be burning your forearms on the hot discharge lines when you are putting the gauges on.

It does work to some degree. A coil would have been a lot cheaper but thats assuming the AC contractor didnt steal the condensing units. The high voltage is wired to the line side of the compressor contacts. Low voltage is wired in at the low voltage terminals Y1 and Y2. They're jumped so the entire cluster......... starts up all at once.

If it had been done more neatly, I wouldn't have a problem with it.
It isn't something I'd do though.If more government is the answer, then it's a really stupid question.
