    Sizing Geothermal Heat Pumps

Can I have some professional input as to what is the proper way to size geothermal heat pumps? Is it or is it not good practice to size geothermal heat pumps by the full manual j heat load as opposed to the cooling load? Location is Northeastern PA Scranton/Wilkes Barre area. (Also if someone can quote the proper energy codes on this topic it would be very helpful). Thank you in advance!

Most pro's size the heat pump and loop for ~ 90% of the heat load, then let strip heat make up the difference
