Could adding gas have raised my superheat?

Hope its not too long winded here..

Had two no cool calls on two similar ICP (Payne) 2007 era 13 seer matchups. Both R22 Both had TXV indoors. Danfoss. Verified good bulb clamp.

Inside Home #1 was 87 upstairs on tstat.

    IDDB @ return 85 IDWB 71.5
    ODA 92-93
    Evap Sat Temp 50-52
    Cond Sat Temp 108
    Final SC 10-12
    Final SH 7-8*

This unit looked great to me. Initially I had about 20* SC so I recovered about a lb of 22. Posted were numbers I ended with.

Dataplate called for 17* SC but I didnt wanna add any with my hot pulldown situation.

    On to Home #2

No cool call on same 2009 Payne 13seer Identical unit.

Home was 83 on stat this time.

    81 ID DB
    68 ID WB
    93 ODA
    50 Evap Sat
    106 Cond Sat

    0* SH
    6* SC

They fried the Bulb at install. Insulation melted. I did find buld not clamped tightly and after 30mins of messing with my proper copper install I had now
7* SH for about 15mins but then it fell back down to 0*-2*.

The only thing I didnt do was go grab the green jug and bring it up to 12* SC and then see what my SH did.

I was already running 50 sat on a R22 unit.

    Anyone have thoughts?

If they fried the bulb at install TXV will not work properly.

A bad bulb causes low suction high superheat valve dosen't open.

I guess I should have said a dead element causes low suction and high superheat dead being the key word.

Check the coils make sure they are clean Most importantly the evap make sure the filter and secondary heat exchanger if applicable are all clean. Sounds like a low heat load... Make sure the fan is in high speed too. Adding refrigerant would lower the superheat
