Furnace/hot water heater in crawl space

    Hi all,

My wife and I went to look at a house today and the furnace and hot water heater were in a crawl space under the home. Could you provide me with some pros and cons of having it this way and what it would mean for us in terms of cold winters in NJ etc? Thanks!

Can you be a little more descriptive about the crawl space and type of equipment?

From what I could see, it was only about 3-4ft high, new hot water tank and not sure about the furnace. It was behind some metal doors and it was just bare ground. It was dark and did not have a good flashlight. N
