nothing to swallow there, faulty ceiling construction...
I refuse to comment on my attic escapades so far in my career... Karma will get me...
Well here goes. After being in business for many years finally took the plunge. KARMA Possibly.
Anyways. fixed air handler in attic and on my way out thru access, when all of a sudden CRRAAACKKKK whole ceiling collapses. Next thin g I know I'm staring up at the ceiling in pain. Stomach and arms scratched up and bruised badly. Ladder broke fall on the way down.
Turn out some dude cut the stud out and when replaced it he forgot to nail one end so it held me for about 30 seconds before catostophic failure. Ouch no broken bones just a whole lot of bruising.

The TRUE highest cost system is the system not installed properly...

Do you go to a boat repairman with a sinking boat, and tell him to put in a bigger motor when he tells you to fix the holes?
I am yourmrfixit
Iv'e done the happy dance that would win dancing with the stars just trying to stay balanced on 2 ft spans. Hate it when you have to decide to face yourself and ribs and knees to avoid eating dinner at the table from the ceiling uninvited!
glad you are ok. That could have been a lot worse.
Bad information is worse than no information at all.
There are three kinds of people in this world. Those who can count and those who can't!
Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt. Gravity is a b.... isn't it? Glad you're OK.
With your chrome heart shining in the sun, long may you run.
That could happen to anyone, being around to tell the story is the important part.
I've put my foot through a couple
Yow...glad nothing broke.
I would not even attempt a an attic job. At least not a year earlier I would not have.
At that time I out weighed most ladders max load limits. Lost close to a hundred pounds since than so now I am up for anything.
That is why I put 3/4 inch plywood in the attic any time I replace equipmment. Then I screw it down and lleave it.
Code calls for it but it is not enforced on the builders. My people are all worth more than a sheet of plywood.
I have not started doing it on service calls yet though.
I am glad you were not hurt badly.
Remember, Air Conditioning begins with AIR.
Glad you weren't hurt badly
I have had a few incidents with ceilings also, its never a good feeling. Good thing you were able to walk away!
I rattled my head on a rafter, lost my balance and put a leg thru a ceiling once. Turned out it was plaster with wood lathe so the wood strips broke downward, wrecking a huge area, then my leg was kinda trapped, couldn't pull it back up . Didn't make $ much that day.
I like to call it "Attic Yoga"
Yeah..alot came off as i was convalescing ...the rest was due to a healthy change in diet.
What is convalescing?
