The service guy did mention when I called him today that he was "surprised" I was getting some cooling. Guess that means he realizes there may be a flaw in his diagnosis but he didn't follow up on it.

BTW, I can't figure out how to make the multi-quote thing work here. I'm maxed out at one quote. Thanks.

Do your homework on who to call next. Most give free estimates on a replacement quote but all are going to charge a service/diagnostic charge for a service call. Cheapest trip charge is not the way to go bc they will probably have to sell you something to make up for the "cheap" trip charge. DO NOT let them put stop leak in your unit, or you really will need a new system.
