When buying a through-the-wall unit, is it better to err on the side of under or oversizing it?

I'd like to put one in my bedroom which is approx. 163 sq.ft., no attic above, thin walls and one south-facing window. I may replace the window with an energy efficient one.

If I leave the doors open to an adjoining bath and walk-in closet, the sq. footage totals approx. 231.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jacquelynn

Did you do a manual J on that?

I am inclined more towards 6000 BTU. You can do M J if you like. Better.
