I like to lay strut ontop of the other strut running the length of the furnace, coil and filterbox. Keeps things from sagging, which will eventually happen.

There's no supply air or venting. Thats against code you know
America; first we fight for our freedom,
then we make laws to take it away.

    agreed

it also allows you to put the hangers beyond the ends of the furnace so you can get the blower assembly out when the motor fails.

Also, from a service point-of-view, that condenser is pretty close to that wall!

You know I dont think the unistrut is ever going to sag. It looks like it is the 1 1/2 think strut. But I could never understand as to why everybody always has the strut open on the bottom. If it is open on top it makes it a lot easyer to raise and lower as needed. Also the flanges you used to the bottom of the joist's. I like to use sideways sammys halfway up the side of the joist. Wheres the saftey pan?

The horizontal coils are huge, plus it is a 3 ton coil.

It's actually almost 9" lots of room to remove the grill.

... read the installation guide for the condenser... most specify a MINIMUM of 12" and 18 is recommended.
The TRUE highest cost system is the system not installed properly...

Do you go to a boat repairman with a sinking boat, and tell him to put in a bigger motor when he tells you to fix the holes?

most don't use hanging strut unless it's in an attic... he likely thought it was in an attic, so would require a pan...
