I'd go with an oil boiler, keep the indirect tank, add in-floor to the first floor, add an air handler with a water coil from the boiler for quick heat and a heat pump for A/C and heat in milder weather.
I dont know if this has been asked? I could not find anything. What would you put in your house for heat and DHW? Keep in mind I live in NH and I want A/C. Looking to gut my systerm and put in new. We do all commercial so I am looking to see what is a good and ceap to run systerm for the house. No Nat gas I can get oil or LP. Right now I have FHW with indirect DHW oil. I could do floor heat for the frist floor and keep the baseboard for the second floor. Frist floor is all hardwood. Any inputs would be great.
Thank You

I would do floor and rads for 1st stage with outdoor reset to switch to heat pump in milder weather and emergency heat for the water coil/blower. I'm thinking on the fly, so not sure how the controls would work, it they would at all. I'm sure it would work, just not sure which stat to use.

If I lived in a climate where in floor and/or baseboard heat was desirable, had no natural gas available, and electricity was reasonable, I'd go with a Daikin Altherma system.
I'm in the process of installing a carrier infinity green speed system in my house. All motors (blower, odf and compressor) are variable speed. The ui communicates constantly with i/d, o/d units to get the best eff. and comfort possible. I've installed two so far for other hos and im very impressed with the results their getting. Does an excellant job on humidity too. I've never been a fan of carrier, especally their commercial gas packs but I think they got it right on this one. Under normal load conditions all the equipment together (w/o heat strips) only pull 5 amps. I took the readings my self. Rated at 20 seer. They say it's 90% eff. I'll see and give updates.
Update So I went with a air handler with hot water coil for 2nd floor I stayed with my oil boiler and now I am still looking for DHW ideas. I got some options; 1, stay tankless by it self (dont want to do) 2, stay with tankless add tekmar with a electric 40-60gal tank piped through the tankless and then to the cold water inlet to the HWH. 3, Go with a superstore
PS its a 2 1/2 bath house
