Why I don't drink out of fountains or get ice in my drinks.
Had a call for an IM. They say it isn't making ice. Open the front door and from what I can see is that they keep it pretty clean. I can tell they wipe everything down, except for the parts they don't know how to remove.
I restart the machine and notice that the water inlet energizes just for a sec then stops. closer inspection shows there is a lil slime on the water sensor.
Tell the customer that I need to clean and sanitize the machine. As I started to pull parts off the machine,,, I dropped the cover on the bottom of the evap,, this jumped out at me as the main problem.

I hope you released that pink snot into the wild. It's a living thing you know. Sure would hate to think you killed it.

LOL! its hard to see it in the pic,,, had to resize it,,, but it goes all the way across. Thankfully the bin was empty. I just put a pan in the bin and used a putty knife to scrape most of it off. The worst part was hearing it plop in the box.
Needless to say,,,I used quite a bit of sanitizer on that job,, and threw away my IM toothbrush after I finished.
At first glance you wouldn't think it was this bad. I wish I took a before pic. You could tell that they attempted to keep their IM clean.

first thought that went through my mind .... i wonder if the new mani's with Luminice stop that 100% like advertised ... I asked a few guys at manitowoc & they said 100% ... every other slime inhibitor ive tried like ice guard or as i refer to them "ice dildos" suck .... sachets were ok but i had to double & triple up but people eventually cut maintenance out so i never found the true test results

I have wondered that too. I wouldn't say most,,,,but many customers compain about the cost a normal cleaning. The run it till the heath department inspects em and gigs em for their dirty IM, then a service call is issued.
I would love to see a real world time lapse video of a IM in the places where we see bad things happens. BTW,,,, how long is the lumiice good for?
But just selling them on the price prob would be the hard part, lol.
I guess its human nature to run it till it breaks.

Thats clean compared to some, wait till you find one where the solenoid has been leaking into the comp compartment, yummy.
You sure are cocky for a starving pilgrim.
