Magnetic bearings
Ymc2
I have a question about magnetic bearings., if a (touchdown) occurs , from what I understand that this can be Checked electronically,
Is the diagnostic and problem found simply by looking at the electronic display and it say (touchdown), I'm thinking not, does anyone have a more Indepth manual I could check out?
The IOM says problem can be checked without opening the unit.,
Any qualified techs out there

yea
sure., i was thinking york56 would shine light on this one lol,
like i said., i was reading IOM and this what it says.,
The motor includes angular contact ball bearings only for control of the rotor during shutdown after rotation is stopped or during shutdown due to loss of power to the magnetic bearings.
The bearing control center maintains proper shaft position in the magnetic bearings and counts events where the touchdown ball bearings may have been contacted during shaft rotation to alert the operation where a bearing check may be necessary. The condition of the touchdown bearings can be assessed by qualified service technicians electronically without opening the unitno signature
