Ripped Off
Stop at the local locksmith, to have a key made. Park van next to building, lock all the doors but the passenger side door.(just left call and just put a motor in the floor board, and laid my tp3 and my meter on the seat). In the shop for 10-15minutes, returned to the van and found my pouch and meter gone,,,,,,,,,,,,I know better, but just forgot to lock the side door, as it's never unlocked during the course of the day. Very seldom have a rider........Live and learn. Fortunately Ins. picked up the cost.

that sucks.
at least they didn't clean you out.
My uncle, who is a roofer, was called to repair a roof. He set up his latter, went on the roof, came back down to find his van empty. He went inside the business to let them know he couldn't find any problems and they told him 'we didn't call anyone for any roof leaks' He done got set up!

I got the back my truck emptied five parking spaces out from the front of a Lowe's main entrance door right underneath a camera. Lowe's said they didn't capture it on tape...liars. They just didn’t want the subpoena or negative press.

In 35 years I been cleaned out 4 times. It only takes 2 minutes or less to open doors of a ford van and take anything out with a handle. Alarm or not, if their wearing work clothes nobody evens looks.

I hate a thief. I have no respect period for anyone that takes something that doesn't belong to them. I'm afraid its going to get worse as time goes on too. Just makes insurance higher for hard working descent folks.

Update,,,,,,Insurance Co. sent me a check, stuck it in my pocket, and started buying tools. Looked at tools through my different wholesalers in the city, and because I am in a remote area, purchased alot of replacements on line. Items started rolling in, and the money started leaving, found everything to replace the stuff that was stolen, in fact my new Veto TP bag(final item) is at the local distributor as of this morning. I've made a discovery.
When you buy on ebay, double check shipping costs. I bought 2 Craftsman double open end wrenches, 3/8-7/16 and 1/2-9/16, and spent a total of $50+ for the wrenches and shipping. Also didn't check Johnstone flyer for April, and bought 3 items on ebay from some guy in New Jersey, that were drop shipped from my local Johnstone corporate warehouse to me. Coulda paid the same price for the items as he did. Finally, to finish my purchasing, I bit the bullet and drove to Portland and purchased the final items to replace the tools that were stolen. Walked into Johnstone, found that they were having a sale on the items I needed, and bought them for considerably less than I had priced them for. The only redemption I have is at least I'm done with it, all tools are replaced, and it only cost me $300 above what the insurance co. paid me. Everything is marked and or engraved with my name and driver's lisc. # and I have paid for another education. Lock your truck!!!!!!!!!!One way to outthink people is to make them think you think. my truck has a service bed, and i work out of town alot. In 25 yrs, ive been ripped off, 3 times. The last time in Corpus Christi Tx, they cleaned the truck out, lol... they must have spent most the night at the motel, going through every box. Every lock was broke,no glass broke though, later found out by police that it happened alot around that area. Needless to say, i started staying in a different area

The First thing I installed on my Ford van was Remote Locks. I got a kit off fleabay for about $40.00. I lock or unlock all the doors with a push of the button. I hate locking and unlocking doors with keys.
I've considered removing all the key locks on the doors and pop riveting a plate over the holes.Yes, I know I Shouldn't But I Just Can't Help Myself...

i have had my tools taken away from me at least 2 times within my 10 years.
I was at a call where the h/o needed a new tstat, probably took me 1/2 hr to install, grabs my tools installed it came back out write out the invoice put my tools in the front seat walked into the house got it signed 5 mins later walked back and noticed my front door was partically opened looked inside my tools were gone. that cost me approx $500 worth of tools called in my company and said i gotta take the day off. was steaming! It was my second call of the day. my boss understood.
How you all feel about going to the local pond shop to pick up used tools? are you supporting the theives?
would like some feedback?
I was told a famous saying.
Take my money if you have to, but done fkn take my tools! (because you can always make more money with the tools but if you take my tools then im not able to make money!
I had a guy tell me that he saw a guy selling tools off the street, so he walked up to that dude punched him out took the tools and left. When he asked him where he got the tools from, he said i dont know he just has them.Get er Done!
Do what has to be done
when it has to be done
as well as it has to be done
And doing it all the time.

I was a service tech in another field when a guy walked in and wanted to sell a pretty decent (for HO use) rotary tool kit. The guy was cool as a cucumber when I photocopied his DL in the office, so I figured that he didn't rip off th tools or anything like that. Not a big fan of pawn shops or untraceable kijiji deals (people openly deal drugs over craigs/kijiji). Always verify the seller's identity and get a written receipt. Too much scum out there. In my culture, your tools are our bread and if anyone who can't really identify you to the police messes with'em, gets "extra-special" treatment. I shouldn't post in a public forum about what happened to the idiot who tried to run off with my tool bag a couple of years ago
(and the tools that I required cost only a small portion of what's needed to even get started in this trade)
