KW cooling or KW electrical consumption
Hello all, I believe I am limited to posting here as I am such a newby..
Anyway, if I have a 3.5ton airconditioner it will use approx. 6KW of electricity when running.
3.5tons is 42,000 BTu which equates to (42,000 / 3412 = 12.3KW)
Why is my KW cooling different to the KW consumed and what laws/rules should I be looking up so I understand this better.
Electrically I am squared away but this problem has always just been out of my reach...
Thanks for any help you can offer to guide this newby to what is probably the most obvious thing (when you know where to look)
It is easier, work wise, to move heat than to create it.
The formula you are using is a direct electrical relationship of kw to BTUs. This would only be accurate for using an electric heating appliance.
If you are a HVACR student or a rookie, you have arrived at the point where you need to research COP (Coefficient of Performance) and EER (Energy Efficiency Ratio).
