    whats normal shaft runout measurements?

    when using a dial indicator to measure shaft runout in a belt driven exhaust blower with a 26"X1" shaft what would be acceptable runout in thousand of an inch? I'm trying to figure at what point recommend shaft replacement.

    Most people don't concern themselves with this sort of thing for a small fan like this. If there's trouble, there would be other symptoms... vibration, bad bearings, noise... then troubleshoot from there.

    During maintenance, don't bother - unless its critical equipment for some reason.

    On open drive compressors, .001 to .003 is common.
